Biography
Mr. Newton joined the Dooley Law
Firm, P.A. in January of 2004 after his prior firm dissolved
its association in December of 2003. Mr. Newton has over
19 years of litigation experience in the Lexington area
with primary practice areas that include: wrongful death;
serious personal injury; domestic law (divorce, custody,
child support, etc.); and family court mediation.
Mr. Newton received his Juris
Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School
of Law in 1988. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree
in Finance (cum laude) from the University of South Carolina.
Mr. Newton is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma
Sigma (business school honor society). Another of our “local”
attorneys, Mr. Newton is a graduate of Lexington High School.
Mr. Newton is a member of the
South Carolina Bar and is licensed to appear in all state
courts in South Carolina. He is also admitted to appear
in both the Federal District Court for the District of
South Carolina as well as the United States Court of Appeals
for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Newton is a certified Family
Court Mediator.
Mr. Newton is a member of the
American Association for Justice and the South
Carolina Association for Justice having previously
served on its Board of Governors representing the
Eleventh Judicial Circuit. Mr. Newton has served for many
years on the executive committee of the Lexington County
Bar Association and was President
of the Lexington County Bar Association in 2006. Mr. Newton
co-chaired the speaker’s bureau for the Lexington School
District One Citizens Putting Children First Committee
and has been active in various School Improvement Councils
and public service committees.
Mr. Newton has extensive experience
in the litigation of a variety of cases. During his years
of practice, Mr. Newton has represented clients in matters
in magistrate court, family court, and the circuit courts
of South Carolina. He has appeared and presented legal
argument in both the South Carolina Supreme Court (the
highest state court) and the South Carolina Court of Appeals.
By combining Mr. Newton’s practice
skills with those services already provided by The Dooley
Law Firm, P.A., the firm is able to offer our clients
a wider range of services to meet their legal needs. Mr.
Newton understands that having to sue someone or being
